We are proud to share a video made by our partners at IBM about a recent success with our customer, Loyola University Maryland.
At last week's Webinar Wednesday, John F. Miller, North American Storwize Sales Manager for IBM, discussed how IBM Storwize is saving customers money on their storage. Using products in the Storwize family, customers see an average of 55% compression -- meaning they're spending about half as much on their storage.
Last week, CAS Severn was a Silver Sponsor of the annual conference and vendor showcase for the Maryland Enterprise Education Consortium (MEEC). We enjoyed participating and meeting with clients and prospects in K-12 and higher education.
At the conference, Chris Lumpkin, Senior Solutions Architect for CAS Severn, presented a topic "Protecting Your Data in a Changing IT Environment," where we featured IBM Qradar and how its SIEM solutions can dramatically eliminate security threats while showing a return on investment.
We were recently awarded the IT Security Assessment & Advisory Services from MEEEC. The contract includes security-related technology, vulnerability assessments, cloud computing security, and many other items. We are happy to be able to work with our education customers on their security needs using this new contract.
We are proud to be a member and partner of MEEC and look forward to attending the event again next year.
One of the biggest, and most overlooked, areas of security is management of endpoints, including laptops, desktops and mobile devices. Chris Lumpkin, Senior Solutions Architect at CAS Severn, outlined some of the benefits of the Security and Compliance features of IBM Endpoint Manager during Webinar Wednesday this week.
IBM Endpoint Manager is a natural fit for compliance and regulatory reasons because of its continuous self assessment and enforcement. It requires only a single server and console for up to 250,000 endpoints. And, it runs in the background, not effecting end users, network performance, or infrastructure.
Chris went into further details about the tool and its benefits during our 45-minute webinar.

CAS Severn will be a Silver Sponsor and present a session at this week's Maryland Education Enterprise Consortium (MEEC) conference.
We're proud to announce that last week the National Institutes of Health awarded us the CIO-CS (Chief Information Officer - IT Commodities/Solutions) contract. This will allow us to sell to all departments within the federal government. It will replace the ECS-III contract, which we've held for the last 12 years.
CIO-CS Contract Holders like CAS Severn have gone through a comprehensive review process prior to award, which includes dimensions such as technical capabilities, past performance, price and cost. Contract holders are the "best of the best," and that pre-screening allows federal customers to purchase with confidence, knowing that all contract holders have met security standards directed by the federal government.
Our team worked hard to respond to this RFP, preparing more than 200 pages of documentation about our capabilities and experience.
CAS Severn has a rich history of working with government clients and we're thrilled to once again have the opportunity through this major contract.

Yesterday, Jose Bravo, security architect at IBM, offered a demo and presentation about what makes IBM's Qradar a great choice for managing a security environment. Jose talked about the product's ease of use and deployment, and how it quickly enables users to see what's happening in their environment without needing a tremendous amount of knowledge in networking.
This week Thomas Bak, co-founder of Frontsafe, delivered a great presentation for Webinar Wednesday. Thomas showed our viewers how Frontsafe's cloud portal, a web front-end software to IBM Tivoli Storage Manager, adds cloud distribution capabilities and allows for greater ease of use. During the session he showed how the tool is used and also detailed data protection services provided by Frontsafe, which includes a cloud backup of more than 12,000 servers.
